Drug
testing is an important component of
any substance abuse
program,
particularly
when the health & safety of others are at risk.
Types of testing that Cedar Springs Associates, Inc. offers:
Pre-employment:
Drug test performed with a negative result before hiring or before performing
a “safety –sensitive” function for the first time, or a transfer to a “safety-sensitive”,
such as a CDL holder.
Reasonable-suspicion:
When a trained supervisor observes behavior or appearance
that is characteristic of alcohol or drug abuse.
Random:
On an unannounced basis, just before or shortly after performing a safety-sensitive function. CSA has Computer Generated Random Consortia services. Our Consotia service provides Semi--annual and Mandated MIS Reports.
Return-to-duty:
When an individual has violated the prohibited alcohol or drug conduct according to company’s policy and procedures, they need to successfully complete the a return-to-duty test in order to go back to a safety-sensitive position.
Follow-up:
When an individual has violated the prohibited alcohol or drug conduct according to company’s policy and procedures, 6 unannounced tests in the first 12 months after individual returns to duty (after having successfully passed a Return-to duty test.) Tests may be extended for up to 60 months.
Drivers are required to have an evaluation by a Substance
Abuse Professional (SAP) and complete all recommendations as part of employment
continuation .
Baseline:
When a company does
a sweep of all employees and/or sub-contractors.
Many states are offering discounts for Worker’s Compensation premiums when a company is in a drug testing program.
Many insurance companies are also offering a discount on
premiums when your company is in a drug testing program.
